Future JWOC athletes meet in Lasówka
This weekend, Lower Silesia will welcome nearly 1,200 orienteers from 26 countries for Sudety Cup 2026 – the largest orienteering event in Poland.
The four-day competition will take place from 30 July to 2 August in Lasówka, in the forests of the Orlickie and Bystrzyckie Mountains. Among those on the start line will be many international junior athletes already preparing for JWOC 2027. For many of them, Sudety Cup will be their first encounter with the terrain of Lower Silesia – and, in some cases, their first-ever visit to Poland.
A strong group of young Polish athletes will also compete in Lasówka. For them, the event marks another important step on the long road towards the Junior World Orienteering Championships on home ground.
The competitors will face four days of demanding navigation in varied terrain featuring marshes, streams, wet meadows, changing vegetation and technically challenging forest sections. It will be an excellent opportunity to experience the character of orienteering in Lower Silesia and become familiar with the regional mapping style.

Updated Embargoed Areas
The JWOC 2027 Embargoed Areas have also been updated in connection with Sudety Cup 2026. The northern part of the previously embargoed area, including the competition terrain around Lasówka, has now been released from the embargo.
All athletes and team officials preparing for JWOC 2027 should check the current official map of the Embargoed Areas before visiting or training in the region. Participation in Sudety Cup 2026 is permitted.
